BBCC hosted its 2nd Family Day of F2025 on Monday August 4. A great success with club members bringing their friends and family. The conditions were perfect (outside of some smoke haze) and everyone had a fun time including the may BBCC Club Racers. Many of these racers had a chance to get a ride on their first Cat. Got to love the Hobie Wave. :):) Special thanks to Mike for arranging and preparing lunch. Also we thank all the families who came down and made the Family Day a great event.
As highlighted this was our seasons 2nd Family Fun-In-The-Sun days. For those members who came down it provided us the opportunity to showed our appreciation to our family members who allow us to escape to our oasis throughout the week by serving them a hearty meal! There were over 50 people on each occasion, the majority being the children we hope will inherit the spirit of sailing and the sand we call home.
Another great event with 50 boats competing over the weekend.
This year, the event will take place in early September, just before the Hobie 14 North American/Challenge. It's a chance to meet with great sailor coming from the continent and abroad.

☀️ Burlington Beach Catamaran Club was all smiles on Saturday, July 19th, as they hosted the Hamilton Sailing & Boating Club for a lively "Albacore Day" celebration. With sunny skies and a gentle breeze setting the tone, members from both clubs gathered for a fun-filled day of sailing, featuring thrilling rides on dinghy catamarans like the Falcon F16, F18s, Hobie Fox, Hobie 16, and A-Cat. Even the kids got in on the action thanks to BBCC Vice-Commodore Don, who offered up an the iconic Optimist (mono hull) for their first taste of sailing. Around 40 enthusiastic participants—including HSBC sailors who arrived via Albacores and Sirius keelboats—shared in the festivities, which included a generous BBQ feast, fresh salads, and snacks courtesy of HSBC members. With laughter, sailing, and plenty of camaraderie, the event was a sun-soaked success from start to finish. Thanks to both clubs members who participated!
Roton Point Connecticut hosted its 64th Annual Multihull Regatta and the 2024 Hobie 16 North American from Sept 13-20, 2024
Two of our BBCC members couldn't resist the appeal to join the fun. The Multihull Regatta attracted approximately a dozen other Hobie 16's and acted as a warmup for the NA Championship which followed.
The ever present current and shifting winds playing a factor in all races. Congratulations to both Brian/Rachel and Laurence/Nicolas who managed to put their feet on the podium finishing 3rd and 2nd respectively.
A great showing for the BBCC. This was a nice introduction to what was waiting for them.
The following week was on another level with strong competitors coming from around the US, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Canada. 50 Hobies participated in the Championship. The first few races saw very light winds, with current pushing the entire fleet over the start line. A chaotic start to a memorable event. Each race day brought different winds, current, and challenges to all participants, with the last day bringing 15-20knts requiring double traps to keep the boats from washing their sails. Going back to shore following the last race was the cherry on the cake with a beautiful reach going well above 20 knts++ boat speed.
Mister consistency Brian with Rachel (sail #115334) managed to end up pretty nicely considering the fact that it was their first Hobie 16 North American. They brought back with them so much more knowledge and another yellow boat :-)
Nicolas and Laurence (sail #50) had good results in the top 10 but were not consistent enough and finished in the top third of the fleet which was their goal regardless.
Both teams would be thrilled to share their experience with other members.

Some BBCC Members got some recognition while we had strong attendance and competition from the USA.
